23 technical universities have been added to the list of foreign universities where Kazakh citizens can study under the Bolashak International Scholarship Program. Thus, there are now 236 universities on the list of higher educational institutions recommended for domestic scholarship holders. The focus of personnel training under the international program has been shifted towards technical professions.
This year, 60 percent of scholarship slots have been allocated to them. The updated list includes such universities as the Eindhoven University of Technology, the University of Hamburg, the University of Leicester, the Pohang University of Science and Technology, and TU Dresden. In terms of the quality of education, each educational institution was selected from among the best universities in international and national rankings. The number of countries was also expanded.
“It is worth noting that each of the selected higher education institutions meets two main requirements. First, it should be included in the list of top 250 international academic rankings, such as Academic Ranking of World Universities, Times Higher Education and QS. The second requirement is that it should also be among the top 20 on the national rankings of the BRICS and the OECD,” said Galiya Dosmukhambetova, Deputy Chairperson of the Center for International Programs.
