GLOBAL CONFERENCE ON PRIMARY HEALTH CARE IN ASTANA EXPECTS TO BRING TOGETHER DELEGATIONS FROM 80 MEMBER STATES

The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is hosting the Global Conference on Primary Health Care, dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the Alma-Ata Declaration and the 5th anniversary of the Astana Declaration on Primary Health Care, to be held on 22-23 October 2023 in Astana, Kazakhstan. The purpose of the Conference is to exchange views, summarize the implementation of the Astana Declaration commitments on PHC since 2018, demonstrate concrete results and achievements, and discuss the role of PHC for universal health coverage. The Conference is expected to be attended by 80 official delegations of WHO Member States, with the participation of ministers of health, representatives of international organizations, young scientists, health workers, etc., which in total will amount to 600-650 delegates in face-to-face format, as well as more than 1000 participants in online mode. Following the event, it is planned to adopt a joint statement on the future of Primary Health Care.
